Nude AI: generators that build an image from nothing

A generator has complete freedom. Nothing in the output has to match an existing frame, so pose, lighting and anatomy can all be resolved consistently by the model. This is why generated images are usually cleaner than edited ones: there is no seam to hide and no borrowed lighting to reconcile.

An editor has almost none. It must match the lighting of a photograph it did not take, continue a body it cannot see and blend into grain it did not produce. The failures we record in the catalogue are overwhelmingly failures of that reconciliation rather than of the generator itself.

For a reader deciding between the two, the question is what the image is for. If a specific person must appear in it, only an editor will do, and that path carries the consent requirement. If the requirement is an image of a plausible adult, a generator is cheaper, faster and legally far simpler.

Prompt control is the first axis. A generator that accepts negative prompts, a seed and a resolution choice can be steered. One that offers a text box and a button produces a lottery, and the cost per usable image rises accordingly even when the headline price is low.

Character consistency is the second. Producing one good image is easy; producing the same person twice is not. Tools that support a reference image or a saved character score better here, and this is where the gap between the top and bottom of our ranking is widest.

Content policy is the third and it is not a footnote. Every general-purpose generator in the catalogue restricts adult output to some degree, and two of them, Luminar and OpenArt, refuse it entirely. Readers arrive at those pages from this category and deserve to be told plainly that the product does not do what the search implied.

Every provider prohibits generating sexual imagery of minors, without exception, and several run classifiers that block prompts and outputs. This is not a policy preference that varies by service, and a tool that advertised otherwise would not appear in this catalogue at all.

Most also prohibit generating a recognisable real person in a sexual context, which covers the common request to produce a public figure. The prohibition is in the terms of service, and it is enforced unevenly, but a user who relies on weak enforcement is still the person who carries the legal exposure.

Where a generated image is published rather than kept privately, Mexican law on simulated intimate content applies to the dissemination even where the subject was never photographed. Generation removes the consent problem at the input; it does not remove the responsibility at the output.
